WANDERING IN WURZBURG

We have just returned to the ship for lunch, after a fabulous tour of the Wurzburg Residence, the Palace in Wurzburg, built in the 1700's, completed in 1744. We couldn't take any pictures inside, but we could in the garden which was my favorite spot. Parts of the palace have been reconstructed, as it was bombed in WW II, on March 16, 1945. The people moved almost all the furniture and art out beforehand, so were able to save it and therefore the incredibly ornate furniture we saw was the original. There was a mirror room in the Emporer's suite that was amazing, all gold leaf and mirrors. Also, the ceiling murals told quite the stories.
